When I stumbled upon Mel’s recipe for Yellow Cake I was impressed. She made the cake more than 16 times to discover the perfect recipe for Yellow Cake. That, my friends, is serious dedication. It also sets the bar very high for what makes a great recipe!!!
Cooking is science, pure and simple. Science is developed through experimentation. When somebody tells me they can’t cook I usually discover two significant things.
1) They have not educated themselves on the topic at all.
2) They have not tried with any persistence.
I think Mel’s persistence in developing this awesome cake is special in a cake mix world. It reminds me of those recipies I have been meaning to tackle that need multiple iterations to discover the “perfect” method. If you enjoy baking, this post is a great instructional because you just learn so much from it! But be warned… visiting www.melskitchencafe.com is going to make you want some cake!
